EBU Extends Cycling Commitment with New Amstel Gold Race Rights Deal |

Cycling - 12 Dec 2012 - The European Broadcasting Union, the umbrella body of mainly public-service broadcasters, and its Dutch member NOS have extended their media rights agreement for cycling’s Amstel Gold Race, the Dutch event on cycling’s top-tier UCI World Tour.
The EBU will continue to distribute the European media rights to the race for the next four years, while NOS will continue as the host broadcaster, also for the next four years.
The agreement follows recent renewals signed by the EBU for European media rights to the Critérium du Dauphiné, the annual French cycling race, and cycling’s annual Tour of Flanders.
Last year, the EBU also signed a media rights deal with ASO, the France-based sports agency and event organiser, for rights to the following ASO cycle races: the Tour de France; Paris-Roubaix; Liège-Bastogne-Liège: Flèche Wallonne; Paris-Tours; Paris-Nice; Critérium International; and the Tour de l’Avenir.
Stefan Kuerten, the EBU’s director sports and business, said: "We are very pleased to be able to continue the successful partnership that we have built up with the organisers of the Amstel Gold Race. This co-operation strengthens the status of the EBU as a major player in the competitive field of summer sports in general, and of cycling in particular."
