Handball - 14 Jan 2013 - The FFHB, the French handball federation, is reported to have launched an invitation to tender for broadcast rights to the matches of France’s men’s and women’s international teams, along with the women’s domestic league in France and the women’s league cup competition.
The tender covers the next four seasons and the rights have all been integrated into one package, according to L’Equipe.
Rights to around 16 matches per year of the French men’s team (excluding matches at major international tournaments) are said to be included in the tender.
Canal Plus, the pay-television broadcaster, is the incumbent rights-holder for France’s international matches, paying around €750,000 ($1 million) a year, while BeIN Sport, Al Jazeera’s subscription broadcaster in France, holds rights to the women’s top league in France for a nominal sum.
Offers for the future rights must be submitted to the FFHB by January 29, it is reported.
