Tokyo 2020 Signs up Five More Bid Partners |

Olympics - 25 Jan 2013 - Tokyo 2020, the Japanese capital’s bid to host the Olympic Games in 2020, announced today that it has signed up five more sponsors, taking the total number of corporate bid partners to 16 in all.
The new partners are: Marudai Food Co., Ltd., one of Japan’s largest food manufacturers; EH Inc., a private-label manufacturer; Maruhan Corporation, an amusement facilities operator; Toptour Corporation, a travel agency; and Daiwa House Industry Co., Ltd., Japan’s largest homebuilder.
Tsunekazu Takeda, an International Olympic Committee member and the president of both the Japanese Olympic Committee and Tokyo 2020, said: “I am delighted to introduce Marudai Food, EH, Maruhan Toptour and Daiwa House Industry as our latest official bid partners. It is clear that our bid enjoys widespread support in the Japanese business community. Tokyo has a large, stable and sustainable economy, and the bid has a dedicated games reserve fund of $4.5 billion. Our budget is fully guaranteed and our financial superiority is unmatched.”
Tokyo 2020’s existing bid partners are: Asics (manufacture and sales of sports goods); Descente (manufacture and sales of sportswear and related articles); JTB Corp (travel support services); Kinki Nippon Tourist (travel support services); Mizuno (manufacture and sales of sports goods); All Nippon Airways (airline); Japan Airlines (airline); ALSOK / SOHGO Security Services (security services); Yahoo! Japan (internet search engine); GREE (social gaming platform); and Yomiuri Shimbun (newspaper).
Tokyo is bidding against Istanbul and Madrid to host the games, with the IOC due to select the host city in September.
