Rio Builds QR Codes into City's Tourist Spots ahead of World Cup and Olympic Games |
Olympics - 01 Feb 2013 - So-called QR codes which, when photographed with a mobile phone, take the user via an app to a site giving more information, are being built into tourist spots in Rio de Janeiro, host city for both matches of next year’s Fifa World Cup and the 2016 Olympic Games.
The codes are being built into the city’s landscape using mosaic tiles and it is hoped that there will eventually be 30 of them in historic and landmark sites around the city.
