The European Handball Federation, the sport's continental governing body, has opened the bidding process for the men's and women's EHF European Championships, the national teams competitions, in 2018 and 2020.
Hosts of the biennial championships have tended to be selected three or four years in advance, but the EHF said its executive committee had agreed to bring forward the process so as to "allow organisers more time to provide the infrastructure required."
Member associations have until September 4 to submit an initial letter of intent to the EHF, and until December 10 to present more detailed proposals.
The four host nations will be selected at the Ordinary EHF Congress in Dublin, Ireland on September 20 and 21, 2014.
The men's and women's 2014 EHF Euro will be staged in Denmark and Croatia-Hungary, respectively, while the 2016 editions were awarded to Poland and Sweden, respectively, last year.
