USA Gymnastics, the sport's domestic governing body, has selected Daytona Beach in Florida as the host of two major international championships in trampoline and tumbling next year.
The FIG, the international gymnastics federation, awarded USA hosting rights to the 2014 World Trampoline and Tumbling Championships and World Trampoline and Tumbling Age Group Competition at an executive committee meeting last month, but the host city was not known at the time.
The World Championships will place on November 7 to 9, with the age group event scheduled for November 14 to 16. Both competitions will be held at the Ocean Centre in Daytona Beach
It will be the fifth senior championships held in USA, but the first time under the auspices of FIG and USA Gymnastics. Previous events in USA were when trampoline was governed by the International Trampoline Federation and the American Trampoline and Tumbling Association.
The World Trampoline and Tumbling Championships, held annually except in Olympic years, determines the men’s and women’s world champions in four events: individual trampoline; synchronised trampoline, tumbling and double mini-trampoline.
The World Age Group Competitions showcase the world’s best boys and girls in those four events in four age groups: 11-12; 13-14; 15-16; and 17-18.
