The IAAF, the governing body for track and field, is seeking a full-time events manager to work on the planning and cooperation of major athletics competitions, including at the Olympic Games and Youth Olympic Games.
The successful applicant must have "total fluency in English and a good command of French," and will work closely with Essar Gabriel, the IAAF’s secretary general.
According to the job description, the events manager will liaise with the respective local organising committees of the IAAF World Athletics Series, including the biennial World Championships, and the Olympics, and manage the IAAF delegations for those events, with responsibilities including organising accreditation, accommodation, transport and logistics.
He or she will also assist with the bidding procedure for the World Athletics Series by participating in the technical review process of candidate cities’ applications, and help Gabriel in running regular internal event coordination and management forums.
At the end of each competition, the event manager must also draft post-event reports to ensure there is a "transfer of knowledge from one World Athletics Series to another."
The IAAF is targeting an individual with at least three years of professional experience in organising, managing, planning and/or co-ordinating large global sporting events, such as Olympic Games, multi-sport games or world championships.
Candidates are requested to submit a cover letter, resume and salary expectation to IAAF at email@example.com before the end of February.
