FISA, the international rowing federation, has kicked off a new round of bidding to host some of its major events between 2017 and 2019 with an invitation from Matt Smith, its executive director, to national rowing federations to request a bidding information sheet for the events that they might be interested in staging.
The sheets list the major financial commitments required when bidding and staging the events, as well as the bidding timeline.
The events available for bidding comprise the following, which are to be allocated by the FISA Congress in 2015:
= 2019 World Rowing Championships
= 2017 and 2018 World Rowing Junior Championships
= 2018 and 2019 World Rowing U23 Championships
= 2017 FISA Extraordinary Congress
Bids are also sought for the following events, to be allocated by the FISA Council, and announced at the 2015 Congress:
= 2017 and 2018 World Rowing Cup I
= 2017 and 2018 World Rowing Cup II
= 2017 and 2018 World Rowing Cup III
= 2018 and 2019 World Rowing Masters Regatta
= 2017 World Rowing Coastal Championships
FISA is also seeking bidders to host two major European events, which will be awarded at the 2015 European General Assembly in May 2015 They are:
= 2017 European Rowing Championships
= 2017 European Rowing Junior Championships
FISA said that ‘Intention to Bid’ letters should be sent on the national federation’s letterhead to Matt Smith at firstname.lastname@example.org by 31 August, 2014.
