Summer Olympic International Federations (IFs) still have until 31 August 2017 to hand in nominations for this year’s “International Federation of the Year Award” category of the H.H. The international category of the Creative Sports Award has been open to the Summer Olympic IFs since 2013. It is designed to celebrate and encourage initiatives, projects and programmes that demonstrate outstanding creativity and contribute to the enrichment of sport.

Each year ASOIF members can submit one entry for the award, with each submission examined in relation to the award criteria by a group of referees appointed by the Award’s Board of Trustees. The winning IF is presented with a US$250,000 prize for use in its development activities.

Last year, the Badminton World Federation (BWF) won the prestigious award for the introduction of an innovative new governance system that links Member Association voting strength with the contribution that they make to badminton. In 2015, the International Judo Federation (IJF) took the podium for its efforts in bringing judo and its values to children in the refugee camp in Kilis, Turkey, located right on the border to Syria. The year before, the International Hockey Federation (FIH) won the award for the innovative format of the 2014 Rabobank Hockey World Cup, with staging the men’s and women’s World Cups at the same time and in the same location and holding additional hockey tournaments for different age groups alongside this major tournament.
