Canoeing World Championships returning to Canada and Germany

The International Canoe Federation has announced that Canada and Germany will again stage World Championships events in 2022. 

Dartmouth in Canada will host the ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships, while the German city of Augsburg will be the venue for the ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships. 

Dartmouth will be staging the canoe sprint showpiece for a third time, having previously had the honour in 1997 and 2009. 

It will mark the fourth time that Augsburg will put on the slalom championships, the last time in 2003.

The 2022 ICF Junior and Under-23 Canoe Sprint World Championships were awarded to Szeged in Hungary, and the 2022 ICF Junior and U-23 Canoe Slalom World Championships to Ivrea in Italy.

Host cities for world championships in other ICF disciplines were also awarded as follows:

•      Ponte de Lima, Portugal- 2022 ICF Canoe Marathon World Championships
•      Saint Omer, France- 2022 ICF Canoe Polo World Championships
•      Treignac, France- 2022 Wildwater World Championships
•      Viana do Castelo, Portugal- 2020 ICF World Ocean Racing Championships
•      Lanzarote, Spain- 2021 Ocean Racing World titles
•      Ternopil, Ukraine- 2022 Dragon Boat World Championships
