Copenhagen is to host the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships for the first time after the FIG, the sport's international governing body, awarded the Danish city hosting rights to the 2021 edition.
The event will be held at the recently opened Royal Arena from 18 to 24 October 2021.
Denmark has staged the FIG Artistic World Championships before, when Aarhus played host in 2006.
Denmark was one of four countries bidding to host the 2021 event.
Anders Jacobsen, president of the Danish Gymnastics Federation, said: "An event of this format fits very well into the course and development we have for Gymnastics in Denmark. I'm sure many of our nearly 200,000 members - and the rest of Denmark - will have a Gymnastics experience for life when we host the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in 2021 together with Sport Event Denmark and the city of Copenhagen."
The event will be organised by the Danish Gymnastics Federation in partnership with Sport Event Denmark, the event hosting body, Wonderful Copenhagen, the tourist body, the city of Copenhagen, and the FIG.
An interview with Sport Event Denmark’s chief executive Lars Lundov will feature in the next edition of Sportcal Insight magazine.
This year’s Artistic Gymnastics World Championships are taking place in Doha, Qatar from 25 October to 3 November.
Stuttgart in Germany will host the next edition in 2019.
