Francesco Ricci Bitti to stand for a new term as ASOIF President

Francesco Ricci Bitti, current President of the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF), will stand for another term of office at the upcoming ASOIF General Assembly on 19 April in Lausanne, Switzerland. No other nominations for this position were received by the official deadline of 4 April, 15 days before the election.

Ricci Bitti has been leading the organisation since 2013. The Italian is Honorary Life President of the International Tennis Federation (ITF), member of the IOC Coordination Commissions for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro 2016 and Tokyo 2020 as well as member of the WADA Executive Committee and WADA Foundation Board. He served as IOC member from 2006 to 2012 and was awarded with the Olympic Order in 2012.

The ASOIF President is elected for a 4-year mandate, in the year of the summer Olympic Games, and the new term commences on 1st January the following year. Immediate re-election is only possible twice. ASOIF currently has 28 member federations.
