The 2019 Wrestling World Championships will be staged in Astana, Kazakhstan, United World Wrestling, the sport's governing body, has announced.
The event will take place at the city's Daulet Arena between 14 and 22 September, and will serve as the first qualification event for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
The Kazakh capital hosted this year's Grappling World Championships, and also has recently staged the 2014 Senior Asian Wrestling Championships and 2016 Asian Olympic Qualifier.
Sauat Mynbayev, president of the Kazakhstan Wrestling Federation, said: “The Wrestling World Championships are a major event and will help popularise wrestling in Kazakhstan and the region. We are excited to host the championships in Astana and are confident they will be remembered to you as one of the best sporting events and will receive positive feedback from fans.”
The Wrestling World Championships are held annually, with this year's event to take place in Budapest, Hungary from 20 to 28 October.
