UIPM World Cup Final to be aired in 163 countries

Modern pentathlon’s 2017 UIPM World Cup Final, which takes place this weekend in the Lithuanian capital of Vilnius, will receive television exposure in 163 countries.

A large proportion of the international broadcast footprint is thanks to a rights deal with Eurosport, the pan-European sports broadcaster that will show the event on Eurosport 2 from 23 to 25 June.

Elsewhere, the UIPM said that “CCTV [China], M4 Sport [Hungary], OSN Sports [Middle East and North Africa] and Fox are among those also transmitting the live coverage of the Men's, Women's and Mixed Relay Finals from Vilnius while another several networks will broadcast the highlights. The action will go out across the continents of Europe, Asia and Africa as well as Australia and New Zealand.”

Eurosport 2’s coverage of the men’s and women’s individual finals, plus the mixed relay, will begin with highlights from the swimming, fencing and equestrian events, before the laser run and medal ceremony are relayed in full.

The laser run will also be streamed live on the federation’s UIPM TV and live action can also be followed on The Olympic Channel.

Eurosport signed a one-year rights deal with the UIPM earlier this year, which also includes the World Championships in Egypt in August.
