The English text, highlighting the major changes approved by the 31st FIVB World Congress in Dubai, was finalized after the annual Rules of the Game Commission meeting in Lausanne last week.

The available text explains rule changes such as the optional increase in the number of players in a roster from 12 to 13 or 14 for FIVB and world events for senior players, the option to add a second libero to a squad of more than 12 players as well as rule modifications concerning net and player interference.

An updated version of the FIVB Rules of the Game for 2009, available in English and French and accompanied by diagrams, will be available to download from the FIVB website in the coming weeks.
