FIBA - Race for FIBA Presidency
19 Mar 2010 00:00

Following the decision of the FIBA Central Board on 13th December 2009, the electoral procedure of the FIBA Presidency for the 2010-2014 term of office has been determined.

According to the principle of rotation, the next FIBA President will come from Europe.

The European member national federations of FIBA were able to send their nominations until 28th February 2010.

FIBA Europe will decide at its General Assembly on 15th-17th May in Munich which candidate they nominate for election to FIBA.

"We are very happy to have such high-profile candidates," said FIBA President Bob Elphinston.

"We look forward to the European General Assembly's decision on which candidate will be brought forward for Istanbul."

The election of the FIBA President will be held by secret ballot during the FIBA World Congress that will take place in Istanbul on 4th-6th September 2010.

The new President will follow a very successful four-year term by Mr Elphinston from Australia.
