Polish Cities Poznan and Krakow Seek to Clean up in Bidding to Host Major Canoeing Championships |

Poland is seeking a near clean sweep with bids to host top international canoeing events in 2015 and 2017, as the city of Poznan vies to host the ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships and the ICF Junior & U23 Canoe Sprint World Championships in 2017, together with the ICF Canoe Sprint World Cups in 2015.
Meanwhile, Krakow is bidding to host the ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships and the ICF Junior & U23 Canoe Slalom World Championships in 2017, plus the ICF Canoe Slalom World Cups in 2015.
The International Canoe Federation plans to award the events at a board of directors meeting in Glasgow in Scotland next weekend.
Other cities appearing more than once in a lengthy list of bidders to host ICF events between 2013 and 2017 include: Moscow in Russia (the ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships and the ICF Junior & U23 Canoe Sprint World Championships in 2017, the ICF Canoe Sprint World Cups in 2015 and the ICF Dragon Boat National World Championships in 2016); Pau in France (the ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships and the ICF Wildwater Canoeing World Championships in 2017); Montemor-o-Velho in Portugal (the ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships in 2017 and the ICF Canoe Marathon World Championships in 2016); and Porto in Portugal (the ICF Ocean Racing World Championships in 2017 and the ICF Ocean Racing World Cup in 2014 and 2015).
Other bidders include: Duisburg, Augsburg and Brandenburg in Germany; Prague and Racice in the Czech Republic; Perth and Sydney, Australia; Pitesti in Romania; Belgrade ijn Serbia; Copenhagen in Denmark; Ljubljana in Slovenia; Liptovsky Mikulas / Cunovo in Slovakia; La Seu d’Urgell in Spain; Vienna in Austria; Banja Luka in Bosnia and Herzegovina; Oslo in Norway; and Venice in Italy.
