Summary of the decisions
The Executive unanimously approved the 2007 accounts of the 2008 budget and that for the upcoming 2009 - 2012 cycle; it hailed the healthy and stable financial situation the Federation presently enjoys.
A project geared toward creating a license to allow for more efficient management of the administrative files of delegation members, gymnasts and their surrounding personnel will be proposed to Council members.
The Youth Olympic Games, YOG, recently introduced by the IOC, will be added to the list of official FIG competitions in the Technical Regulations. The Executive approved the new YOG regulations.
Criteria for qualification to the Olympic Games are under revision. Concrete proposals will be submitted to Council members for approval.
The Executive Committee examined the basic principles of the Codes of Points which will come into effect as of January 1 2009. The codes will be approved at a later meeting. The President emphasised his intent to favour execution over difficulty in order to decrease the number of accidents and to render gymnastics more accessible to the public and media alike.
Changes in nationality; Valentina Solguren, Rhythmic gymnast from VEN to AUS, Achmad Jaser, MAG judge from SYR to CYP and Katya Bou Aram Artistic gymnast from GER to LIB.
2009 Council organisation of the meeting falls to a European Union member federation. One bid has been made to date Norway.
A single candidate for organisation of the first edition of the Gym for Life Challenge has been received - Dornbirn AUT. The event will be held in July 2009.
The date for the 2007 - 2008 World Cup Final in Rhythmic Gymnastics has been changed to October 3 - 5, 2008 in Benidorm ESP.
British Gymnastics and the city of Glasgow will host the 21st Acrobatic Gymnastics World Championships on October 12 - 19 2008.
The FIG Executive will be meeting May 22 - 23, 2008 prior to the 8th Council in Cape Town RSA.
