Citibank, the global financial services company, today became the latest partner of the United States Olympic Committee to extend its deal beyond the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games in 2016.
Citi, which signed up as a sponsor of the USOC and Team USA for the first time ahead of the London 2012 Olympics to celebrate the bank's 200th anniversary, will continue as the official bank partner of the US Olympic and Paralympic teams through 2016.
Michael Corbat, chief executive of Citi, said: "Our first-ever USOC sponsorship last year proved to be a meaningful platform to engage colleagues while showcasing our innovative banking products to clients and consumers."
As part of its sponsorship deal with the USOC last year, Citi donated an additional $500,000 to launch the 'Every Step of the Way' programme to benefit US Olympic and Paralympic sport programmes and support future athletes across USA.
Already this year, the USOC has extended partnerships with AT&T, the US telecommunications services provider, Getty Images, the photo agency, TD Ameritrade, the US online broker, and HHonors, the loyalty programme for hotel chain Hilton Worldwide's 10 distinct hotel brands. All these deals also run to the end of 2016.
