The final of the 2013 Fed Cup, women's tennis' national teams competition, will be played on a clay court in Sardinia, Italy, the International Tennis Federation, the sport's governing body, announced today.
The final at the 5,000-seat Tennis Club Cagliari will be contested by Italy and Russia on November 2 and 3.
Italy and Russia are the two most successful Fed Cup nations in the 21st century, winning seven titles between them.
Italy won in 2006, 2009 and 2010, while Russia claimed the titles in 2004, 2005, 2007 and 2008.
Russia beat Italy 4-0 in the 2007 Fed Cup final in Moscow on a hard court.
