The Pan American Hockey Federation, the regional governing body for field hockey, has elected Argentina's Alberto Budeisky as its new president, replacing the long-serving Tony von Ondarza of Venezuela.
Budeisky received 13 votes at the PAHF congress in Mendoza, Argentina to defeat René Granat, also of Venezuela, who got 10 votes.
Budeisky also replaces von Ondarza as the Pan America representative on the executive board of FIH, field hockey's world governing body.
Von Ondarza had been PAHF president since 1987.
Also at the congress, Nicole Grant (Jamaica), Hector Motta Rios (Puerto Rico), Walter Kramer (Chile) and Herberth Lovo (El Salvador) were elected as new board members, while Canada's Derek Sandison was re-elected unopposed as PAHF treasurer.
