From 1 January 2014 the IWF appointed its first ever Director General, Attila Adamfi.
He graduated from:
• Hungarian University of Physical Education, Physical Education (1996), Sports Management (2000)
• College of International Management & Business, Economical Diplomacy and International Management (2003)
Adamfi started his career as sport official at the Hungarian National Office for Physical Education and Sports before joining the Hungarian Ministry of Sports.
Serving weightlifting for already 19 years, he started his IWF career in 1995 as part time contributor and became full-time employee in 2001. He fulfilled the duties of IWF Competition Director in the recent years.
He participated in 5 Summer Olympic Games as advisor and took over the Technical Delegate responsibilities for 2 Summer Olympic Games; Youth Olympic Games and about 100 World and Continental Championships, World Cups, Continental and Regional Games.
Appointed by the Hungarian Olympic Committee, he is founding member of the newly established International Relations and Sport Diplomacy Commission.
Vice President of the Federation of International Bandy (FIB) since 2006, Adamfi is also President of the Hungarian Bandy Federation since 2005.
In his new position, he will continue playing an active role in Sport, Competition and Technical issues.
