South Korean archery fans will continue to have access to top international events in the sport on SBS, the commercial free-to-air broadcaster, under a new deal announced on Tuesday.
SBS has extended its deal with World Archery by four years and will offer exclusive live and delayed coverage of all stages and the final of the annual Archery World Cup and the World Archery Championships. The agreement also incorporates the Indoor Archery World Cup.
SBS has held rights to World Archery events since 2010 and the property is highly valued in South Korea given that it is the leading country in the sport, having won more Olympic medals than any other nation.
Events will continue to be shown on the SBS and SBS Sports Channels and on internet and mobile platforms, and the live coverage will be complemented by news, highlights and editorial features.
Earlier this week, Kia, the Korean car maker, extended its sponsorship of World Archery’s top international competitions until the end of 2015.
The 2014 Archery World Cup starts later this month in Shanghai in China and visits Medellin in Colombia, Antalya in Turkey and Wroclaw in Poland before the final in Lausanne in Switzerland in September.Sportcal
