When the Volleyball Nations League (VNL) 2026 got underway last week, the world’s top women’s national teams returned to the court for an opening week packed with incredible action.  

But on the benches, another important story was also taking shape.

In partnership with the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) and the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS), the FIVB launched the Kanya Kiran “Girl Sunshine” Mass Participation Programme in India this week, with the programme aiming to empower young girls through volleyball.

The FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship 2025, hosted in the Philippines from 12–28 September, proved to be a spectacular celebration of the sport.

The FIVB, the Abhinav Bindra Foundation Trust (ABFT) and the Chandigarh Administration today officially launched the Udaan School Volleyball Programme, a landmark initiative designed to embed volleyball into school sport and inspire mass participation across the region.

Guided by the FIVB Strategic Vision 2032, the FIVB has taken a decisive step in its sustainability journey by officially signing the Sports for Nature Framework, becoming part of a growing global movement to protect and restore biodiversity through sport.
