World Squash and the World Academy of Sport (WAoS) are proud to announce a global partnership to launch the World Squash Academy, a major initiative to support the global development of squash.
With the exciting opportunities that the Olympic Games Los Angeles 2028 (LA28) presents, the World Squash Academy will provide a learning platform that will give the opportunities to National Federations, coaches and other stakeholders to learn, develop and grow our sport.
The World Squash Academy will provide a comprehensive quality assured process for expanding the World Squash Coaching programme in multiple languages and enable many exciting opportunities in the future. With a tech-driven platform to house World Squash’s learning and resources, the World Squash Academy will greatly enhance capability around the world in an inclusive and efficient way.
World Squash President Zena Wooldridge OBE commented:
“The partnership with the World Academy of Sport to create this learning platform coincides very nicely with our new World Squash strategy and the key priorities emerging from it. The strategy recognises the critical role of Member Federations and squash facilities across the world to the sport’s ability to capitalise on the Olympic opportunity through their capacity to inspire and grow the sport at grass roots. The World Squash Academy will not only enhance the range and quality of the learning and development offer to support our mission, but ensure they are more accessible to the whole squash community.
“The longer-term potential of this partnership with WAoS and its unique Censeo platform goes well beyond a basic learning management system. With the WAoS’s roots embedded across sport, education and tech sectors, the platform will also provide multi-language capabilities and opportunity for knowledge exchange across Federations and other stakeholders. It will give us enormous scope to grow the range, quality and accessibility of future programmes and services.
“As we further expand our digital infrastructure, we are very excited to be able to bring the Censeo platform into our technology structure through this collaboration with WAoS.”
WAoS Managing Director Chris Solly added:
“We are delighted to partner with the World Squash team. They have an excellent executive and a committed board that has driven the sport forward impressively in recent years. With their addition to the LA28 Olympic Games programme we are energised to be able to provide a destination for all those interested people looking to get involved around the world when squash is showcased to a whole new audience.
“At WAoS, we’ve been quietly working with international sports for over 25 years. Our experience continues to drive innovation and alignment with the strategic goals of our global partners. What was once a challenge – education and development within international federations – is now a real opportunity as nations, languages and cultures can all be provided for. Our solutions are built by and for the global sporting community, helping sports create sustainable development programmes. With over one million learners supported worldwide, this new partnership with World Squash marks another exciting chapter.”
The first stage in development of the World Squash Academy has commenced with a comprehensive review and consultation of membership and stakeholders which will inform the development and roll out of programmes.
The World Squash Academy is scheduled to launch in 2026.
